Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
Jimmy proposed on May 19th. I’m a middle school teacher, and I love my job and students. My students had met Jimmy (so they knew we were serious). Unbeknownst to me, he wanted to propose before the school year was over so I could share the excitement with them. We had been dating long distance (I live in Florida, and he lived in Louisiana) and took turns flying to each other’s states every month. It was my turn to fly to his state. He secretly flew in and, with the help of my friends, decorated my classroom as a cute little proposal area. My roommate was supposed to help me bring some school stuff back into my classroom on the weekend. As I approached my classroom, I saw lights hung everywhere and writing on my whiteboard. When we opened my classroom door, I stood there for a few seconds, stunned. Jimmy appeared and took my hand. On my classroom whiteboard, he’d written words representing memories we’ve shared, things we’ve learned from each other, and other important tributes to the relationship we’ve shared as friends and significant others. He then got down on one knee and popped the question. I said, “Absolutely, yes!”
