Joy Proposal Story: Renee & Robert

by Cali Pitchel

How did the two of you meet?

We meet running volunteer EMS together.
Joy means getting to kiss the person who takes your breath away, everyday, and for the rest of your life!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

It was the night before Thanksgiving. We had flown to Mineola, New York where he is from to spend Thanksgiving with his family. His sister had gotten tickets for the whole family to go into the city to see the Rockettes at Radio City hall. Afterwards, we walked around and headed down to see the tree getting trimmed at Rockefeller Center. I was taking pictures of his mom with the grandkids when I stood up, turned around, and he was down on one knee with a ring box!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

So far it has been finding unique ways to fit our personalities & incorporate “us” into the wedding. For example, I’m a nurse and one of our favors will be bottles you shake with glitter inside (they are actually anxiety bottles, and really neat to play with). We found OLD glass medicine bottles to use for them!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We have had over a year to plan! Getting small stuff done and then setting it aside will help us when the big day comes, we won’t be rushing and stressed. Also, not sweating the small stuff. I’ve been told that the day goes so quick, I plan to enjoy it!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I love everything about the website, our page is beautiful and easy to navigate!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Make it about you and have fun with it!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Joy means getting to kiss the person who takes your breath away, everyday, and for the rest of your life!
