How did the two of you meet?
We had a very chance meeting while we were out at a bar in New Orleans. Jonas is Danish and lives in Denmark, he was on a road trip with some friends. I happened to be in town with some friends celebrating my birthday!
Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
After having a long distance relationship for six months, we met up with each other in Myanmar. Jonas proposed in Bagan, Myanmar at sunrise while we sat on top of a temple and watched the sun rise and hot air balloon float across the landscape. At that point in time, we had spent a total of 14 days together in person!
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
I have really enjoyed planning everything with my best friends and keeping them involved.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
I don’t take it too seriously and just remind myself that this process is about celebrating our love for each other with our loved ones. As long as our personalities shine through and everyone enjoys themselves, nothing else has to be perfect.
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
It has been so easy setting up our wedding website and also reminds me of little things I need to get done! It’s also especially great for out of town guests.
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
I would take advantage of the guest list and app functions. It makes things so much more convenient to have your website at the tip of your fingers, on your phone. If you remember something while out of the house you can easily update your site on the app.
