Joy Proposal Story: Sophie & Stephen

by Cali Pitchel

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Stephen took me away as a Christmas present to Budapest. It was all a surprise and I didn’t know where we were going till we got to the airport. He had booked an amazing hotel room at Gresham Palace over looking the chain link bridge. Thinking that was obviously the most amazing gift I had no clue what was to come.

We will look back on this day as a celebration with our loved ones and the beginning of our adventure.

We did a walking tour and ended up on the other side of the river over looking the river and the parliament on the Fishermans Bastion, where he proposed with the most beautiful Victorian engagement ring. It was the most incredible trip with perfect memories.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Making the invitations. We are a big crafting family and have been making the invitations this week. It’s been so much fun! Bunting and signage is next! Making them together was a great experience.

I also really enjoyed buying my dress. We visited a few stores and I did not think I would ever feel that ‘the one’ feeling. Until my friend found a beautiful boutique Tilly Trotters Brides near her home and we popped in. As soon as I went in I knew there was a dress in there for me and when I tried it on it was an amazing feeling!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Reminding ourselves it’s our day and not to sweat the small stuff, everyone will forget how many candles were on the table but the feeling of the day will last forever… Gin helps!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Get your website up early so you can get the information on your invitations and use it to its full potential. As our wedding is 3 hrs drive for some we love the feature of things to do in the area for guests staying for a weekend.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

We will look back on this day as a celebration with our loved ones and the beginning of our adventure. It’s the adventure in which we full find so much joy supported by the memories of our celebration.
