Joy Proposal Story: Zack & Bethany

Joy Proposal Story: Zack & Bethany

How did the two of you meet?

I first saw Zack my freshman year of college, the day before flying to Puerto Rico with the Asbury Tumbling Team. Over the next month, we got to know each other more and more. Eventually, he asked me out for lunch at the local coffee shop called Solomon’s Porch.

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Zack and I were celebrating our three-year dating anniversary. Zack decided to give me the awesome gift of tickets to an Ed Sheeran concert! When the day finally came, I made a picnic lunch to eat by the river in Louisville. After eating, we went across the Big Four Walking Bridge to Indiana. We stopped in at a cute little coffee shop and had some yummy coffee and played a game of checkers (Zack: She will neglect to mention in every telling of this story that I beat her at checkers. Badly.) After finishing our game, we left the shop and headed back across the bridge towards Kentucky. We had just reached the other side of the bridge when Zack stopped and just stood there talking about how pretty it was. Me, being very excited about the concert, was not really that appreciative of the view when I know that Ed Sheeran is the next thing on the agenda. I nodded, smiled, and tried to move him along when Zack said he wanted to give me my anniversary present. I had thought that Ed Sheeran was my present, but apparently, Zack had decided to give me two gifts this year. Rather than handing me a wrapped up package or a bag with tissue paper, he knelt on one knee with a gorgeous ring in one hand and asked me to marry him! Needless to say, I said, “Yes!”

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

It has been a lot of fun learning to work together even more, through the planning process.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We always take time during the week to hang out and not discuss any wedding plans. Normally this involves a couple cups of coffee and board games, It’s a great way to enjoy each others company and truly relax.
