First off, congrats! What’s the best thing about being a newlywed?
It really does feel different! It gives even more security in our relationship which is a strange experience. You already feel like a strong couple before you get married but the confirmation and vows made in front of all our loved ones, have ensured an even stronger bond.
What is the most memorable moment from the wedding?
There were quite a few memorable moments! My son gave me away together with my father. When we got to the end of the aisle he jumped into my husband’s (his step dad’s) arms and hugged him so tight that everyone burst into tears. Another memorable moment was when my husband included our inside joke in his vows which set me off into a laughing frenzy! Lastly, our photo shoot we did in the field with a herd of sheep staring at us, and then charging our way! In the background, the sun was setting. It was funny and magical at the same time.
With the wedding over and some time to reflect on the celebration, would you have done anything differently—splurge on a pricier dress, nix the favors, go for that extra passed appetizer?
I would have splurged on a wedding planner from the get-go instead of hiring one half-way into the planning stage. Also, we would have liked to pay for all travel expenses and hotels for our guests as a sign of our gratitude for being there. In hindsight, maybe we should have set our budget higher! Also, fireworks. A lot of fireworks! I was hoping my man would surprise me with them.
The million dollar question: Did you have any time to enjoy the food or the cake?
We, unfortunately, missed the cake. We did get to enjoy the beautiful dinner from our French caterer!
What tips do you have for other Joy couples still in the midst of wedding planning?
Don’t get caught up in other peoples emotions about your wedding during the planning stage. Also, don’t get too upset when invited guests can’t make it on the day. Put your energy toward your love and the people that were able to make the effort to be there.
How did you stay sane during wedding planning?
We tried to look at the practical side of wedding planning. We weren’t too fussy and wanted simple styling which helped us a lot. It helps when you take on the challenge, as a team!
How did you hear about Joy?
My husband found it when looking for a wedding website, he googled you!
What was your favorite part about using Joy for the wedding?
Writing our story, adding the plan, and adding pictures we made for our love shoot.
What’s the one thing you wish Joy did (or did better)?
I would have loved to have been able to invite people from our website and app using their email addresses or phone numbers.
At Joy we believe that although a wedding lasts one day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you and your husband?
Being able to reminisce about our weekend and the love we received from all of our loved ones, is a priceless gift that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives! The joy and love we felt the day and weekend of our wedding, is an experience we will never forget.
